Class 24/25 kits

Postby garethevans1986 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 2:37 pm

Hey all

Just wondering if anybody knows who manufactures Class 24 or Class 25 kits...and price if known.

http://www.ukmodernimage.com/ have one or each coming out - "more details towards the Telford show" Steve said.

I was wondering if anybody else does any?

Thanks

JLTRT do all the versions of the 24's and 25's (ok except the first 24's with the extra grills) They ain't cheap at £460 plus wheels, gears and motors but they do look good. Have you seen my builds of these models on my website? http://briandaniels.fotopic.net/c1462683_97.html

Beautiful locos Brian.

Stupid Question - How much work is there with building them?

Hi
Don't forget PRMRS who do a Cl 25 early and Late version (link from website).

As for JLTRT, im currently using one of there Cl40 kits to teach the wife how to built kits  and she is doing very well.

JLTRT kits are easy to build as the bodies consist of 2 sides a roof and 2 cabs. The sides have a slot and tab fix into the roof and the ends can only fix on in one place. Some of the kits you have to pre paint the cab rear bulkheads and fix them in when glueing the cabs on. With the 24/25 you have to fix the glazing in before you glue the cabs on as well as you can't get in to do it once it's all together. On the 24/25's the instructions tell you to glue the sideframes to the bogie! Don't do that or you will never be able to get the things apart again. You don't need to glue them anyway as the sideframes hold themselves on just fine. As you have probably seen from my website I have done a few of these kits One aspect that does make you think twice when building these kits is the fact they are superglued together, one hit and hope you got it right! or that the runny superglue has not run where you put your hands to hold it together :( You can guess how we know about that one. If you are going to Telford I should be on the JLTRT stand to show/help anyone out.

Thank for the reply Brian.

The plan is to go to Telford in September with some notes in my wallet to spend :D - this is of course if SWMBO lets me go or comes with me....:S
